Sandblasting is priced by the time spent rather than the individual items themselves – This is because no two cars or items are the same. Therefore, we have a motto here: The cleaner the car, the cheaper the price.
If your car is in its original paint then it’s more likely that media blasting can be used which is relatively easy due to the type of paint used and more often than not, years of ultraviolet sun rays and acid rain which can affect the paint’s durability.
If your car has been resprayed there’s a strong likelihood it will have been rubbed down and had fillers applied. Where modern paint has been sprayed on top this means it will take longer for us to complete the job and therefore a higher charge
If your car underbody is coated in Bitumen underseal it will need to be scraped off before media blasting. This is also the case for interior coatings such as sound deadening and carpet glues. These are rubbery and anything that is rubberised means most blasting partials will just bounce off.
It’s worth noting that most German cars have underseal that is of a rubber type which is far harder to scrape off first than bitumen.
Please refer to the images below which should help explain further. One car has a thick black underseal while the blue one doesn’t. Some panels with excessive amounts of filler make it difficult for us to provide a time until we have started work (the deeper the filler the more time it will take us).
Here are some average prices to use as guidance
- Mini small car £800 – £1200
- Medium Ford escort £1200 – £1600
- Large mark II Jaguar £1500 – £2000
Aluminium cars
Due to the more delicate nature of aluminium, these can take us much longer to complete.
Pricing could be from £1600 – £2500 depending on the type of paint / underseal filler and glues etc
And no matter what you have heard elsewhere we don’t distort or damage panels here as we are professionally skilled media blasters
